RENDEZ-VOUS

Picasso, Chagall, Klein and their time, design of the exhibition in The Heidi Horten Collection

Following the idea of a "RENDEZ-VOUS," the Heidi Horten Collection presents insights into the lives and works of artists in whose work France played an important role in its eponymous summer exhibition from May 6 to October 29, 2023. A special focus will be on Pablo Picasso, Marc Chagall, and Yves Klein, of whom the collection has large collections. In addition to the artists' biographical stations and places of activity in Paris and the south of France, the show also illuminates, in the form of an "exhibition within the exhibition," Heidi Horten's sophisticated lifestyle, which she built up around the modernist Villa Dubeau on the Côte d'Azur in the 1960s and 1970s.

For the Heidi Horten Collection, Margula Architects designed modular expandable museum furniture inspired by the modular systems of educator Friedrich Froebel (1782-1852). From two basic geometric modules, diverse presentation, seating and event furniture is created that can be reused in the long term for individual design requirements.

Margula Architects thereby adapt Froebel's play fork system into a sustainable architectural concept for museum furnishings that adapts to different settings and can be used in a variety of situations. The modularly expandable and dynamically combinable museum equipment thus serves as a complement to the museum space and its design in the interplay between art, architecture and design.
